Wedding Shower Ideas

A wedding or bridal shower is a party that is held for the bride to be, before the wedding takes place. Wedding showers are normally held and organised by the bride to be’s family and best friends. The event is normally a time where friends and family will ‘shower’ the bride with many gifts.

Wedding showers are more commonly held in the United States, it is better known in the UK as a ’hen party’, This custom originated in the 1890s and is a day or a night that every bride to be will look forward to and remember as their last official night of being single, and therefore a celebration and last hoorah before they are married.

If you are the organiser of a wedding shower then it is important to think about your wedding shower ideas well in advance so that you can allow yourself plenty of time to make sure all of your wedding shower ideas come together and make the day really special for the bride.

The wedding shower ideas not only need to include gifts, decoration and the location, you also need to think about any wedding shower games that could be played on the day to make the day more memorable and fun.

Trying to come up with wedding shower games can be lots of fun. If you speak to any party organizer you will be told that the trick to throwing a successful wedding shower is throwing one that has great games that get the crowd upbeat, connected and involved.

It is important to consider the following when coming up with your wedding shower ideas.

Do not play games that need pens and paper. Quizzes and such pastimes may seem like a good idea but let’s face it, keeping score and order, and keeping the interest of a group of females that have probably had a few glasses of wine is not as easy as you may think. If you do want to hold some form of quiz, then make it light hearted and allow the guests to call out the answers which is not only more fun and interactive, but also generates camaraderie.

Do not make your guests feel awkward. The best wedding shower ideas are those where every guest leaves with a smile on their face. So choose games that will not make your guests feel awkward, pressured or embarrassed. Unless you are having a very intimate and like-minded group of people, avoid topics or themes that are too personal, controversial, or excessively racy.

Organising a wedding shower is far from easy so ask others that are attending to help you with your wedding shower ideas. Work together to make this day or evening extra special for the bride to be and most important of all, have plenty of fun.
