Vera Wang - Wedding Dress Designer

If there is one person that knows their stuff when it comes to designer wedding dresses it has got to be Vera Wang.

DRESS.jpgBorn in New York on June 27, 1949 Miss Wang graduated from the Sarah Lawrence College with a degree in art history when she was 23. She had also schooled at the Sorbonne in Paris where she frequented fashioned shows no doubt fuelling her desire to go on to make some of the worlds most exquisite designer wedding dresses.

Vera Wang’s first passion was figure skating until the dream ended in 1968 at the national finals where she failed to win. Still in love with the sport she designed costumes for Olympic medal winning Nancy Kerrigan.

It wasn’t long before her talent for design led her to the fashion industry per se and she became Vogue magazines senior fashion editor, forming strong relationships with some of the world’s finest designers, before leaving after sixteen years to join Ralph Lauren where she was design director for two years.

In 1990 she opened her first store in New York City the Vera Wang Bridal House and in 1992 started creating her trademark designer wedding dresses for the stars.

Vera Wang has made designer wedding dresses for many celebrities who include Sharon Stone, Maria Carey, Alicia Silverstone, Mare Winningham, Chynna Phillips, Penelope Ann Miller, Vendela and last but not least Barbie!

Without doubt she is most famous for her range of designer wedding dresses however Vera Wang has created lines of lingerie, sun glasses and fragrances for both women and men.

She now lives in New York City with her two daughters and successful businessman husband Arthur Becker. She remains dedicated to her work which has been instilled in her from an early age by her parents. Vera is the CEO, Chairman and owner of her own company.
